OLD FORM WORK UNDERNEATH DRIVEWAY CAUSED DRAIN BLOCKAGE

Many drain blockages in the housing area is caused by the old formwork left behind while casting the concrete driveway in front of the houses. The blockages often caused sever flooding into the houses along the road after drain water over spilling.

This is what happened when MCA Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu who had arranged the DBKK to clear the blockages underneath the concrete driveway today. DBKK workers had to punch through the thick concrete driveway slab to reach to the blockages and they found timbers, plywood, and even roof sheet which was used as a shuttering formwork. These items when became rotten will fall and block the drain totally.

The DBKK will have to spend few days to clear one blockage and to redo the access hole with a new cover. This becomes an extra expenditure for DBKK, therefore the house owners are advised to be more considerate to remove all the formwork after casting the concrete, and don’t forget to provide access hole for drain cleaning purpose.
