MILD STEEL COVERS MISSING AGAIN

MISSING.... Mild steel gratings missing from road side drain.

THE PUBLIC complained to the Sabah DAP Local Government and Housing Bureau chairman Edward Ewol Mujie that the mild steel grating covers on the Tuaran main road along the Inanam Baru road side drain are missing again, leaving some 4 big holes which post danger to the pedestrians and cars.

Edward inspected the location of the missing gratings and found at least 4 numbers are missing. He said this is the job of the metal thieves and this metal cover is what they like. The thieves just park the car there at night and it can be easily removed and put into the car. This metal covers are not fixed to the hole but simple place loosely on top. The cost of each cover may be around RM120 each.

The JKR and the DBKK must resolve to use a better method to fix the metal covers so that the thieves can not remove easily. It will be better to use some other material like fiber-reinforced plastic or concrete to replace these covers.

The cover when went missing can cause danger to cars and pedestrians, especially at night. Edward hopes the JKR and DBKK can come at once to replace the covers before any accident can happen. The authorities must conduct regular surveillance to various part of the city to check and make good what ever defects and problems. 

Besides, Edward also wants the authorities to clear all the pieces of broken concrete blocks, rocks, timber, and unused culvert from the road sides in KK to avoid the City looking ugly and untidy.
