DRAIN PIPE UNPROTECTED AND UGLY

THE NEWLY completed Tanjong Aru flyover has it road side drainage pipes along the road being left exposed, unprotected and looked ugly. The white color road side drainage plastic pipes are being laid by the road sides in an exposed condition without any earth cover to protect the brittle and fragile pipes.

These pipes can be damaged or broken if these are hit by cars or people. The true fact is that these pipes created an unsightly scene on the road.

Dr. Felix Chong Kat Fah, the Sabah DAP Tanjong Aru Branch chairman received complaints from motorists saying that they do not like the look of these exposed pipes sitting by the road side, and it looks like the work is not completed.

Is the contractor trying to save money by not covering up the pipes with earth? The motorist also commented that the pipes are laid in a very funny way and even some pipes are twisted over.

This is definitely not a good piece of engineering work. This type of work should not come from a professional big contractor who is handling a flyover project costs hundreds of millions ringgits. This job now seems like a ‘cow-boy’ job.

Dr. Felix wants the JKR road section to pay particular attention to rectify all the unsightly work carried out by their contractor and order them to make good all other areas in the roads on this flyover project. There are grounds that are not level and not properly covered up, and all these can cause danger to the general public. We don’t want any mishap arising here.
