THE PEOPLE here in Kampong Kalasanan, Inanam had sorted assistance from Sabah DAP to highlight their many problems arising here in their forgotten village by the authorities. These complaints were brought up during the walk-about visit conducted by the Sabah DAP leaders to the kampong recently.

Edward Ewol Mujie and the KK MP Hiew King Cheu led the DAP team to walk through the Kg Kalasanan on foot and speaking to many residents here to learn more about their problems here. The people welcomed the visit and they have tons of complaints concerning their kampong here which is only some 10 kilometers from the KK City center.

The kampong folks said they felt that the government and the local authorities had totally forgotten about their existence and the condition of the kampong is really bad. Nobody cares and not even from the local BN state assemblyman.

They said that the security in the kampong here is very bad, and houses are frequently being broken in with many valuables been stolen. The cars parked in the car shed and by the road side are also being broken in and even the fuel also being sucked out until empty tank. There is not enough police petrol and there should be a police depot to be installed here due to the complexity of the population in this kampong.

The timber foot bridges here are at a very poor stage, and some even showing sign of collapsing. The timber planks are rotten and cannot sustain the weight of a person anymore. There are many section had already collapsed into the water, and totally cut off the access. Many people asked for the foot bridges to be repaired or rebuild into some solid concrete foot bridges for their safe use.

There is tons of garbage accumulated below the houses and foot bridges which had created a dirty and unhealthy environment in this kampong. The authorities never come to clear this rubbish and just ignoring to leave them there hoping the rubbish will disappear on its own.

The kampong folks had organized many ‘Gotong Royong’ to pick up the rubbish from this water village. They have requested the authorities and even the local YB to come to help, but there is no action taken. Furthermore, there should be more rubbish bin centers to be constructed in this kampong.

There are many other complaints forwarded by the resident here and Edward said he will attend to these complaints and to notify the authorities concerned. Edward also said that the kampong folks should come together to make it a point that the local authorities will listen to them if they group together to organize a meeting with the local authorities to tell them more about their problem.

The most important thing is that the people are the only one who can demand the authorities to perform. This is because the people in the authorities are their employees, and paid servant by the people.
