CLOSURE…. Stephen, Edward Mujie and the people in Grand Millennium Plaza in front of the road closure barricade.

THE CLOSURE of the road outlet from the Grand Millennium Plaza in Penampang to the Penampang By-pass has caused many public inconveniences and complaints. The sudden closure has caused the traffic flow in the shopping area to pile up during peak hours. There is only one inlet and one outlet for the many cars here.
Sabah DAP Kapayan Branch Chairman Stephen Jimbangan has recently highlighted this issue and voiced it out to the authorities concern to review and to reopen the particular outlet for the cars to gain easy and quick access to the Penampang by-pass. The people said they are openly appealing to the authorities to reopen the outlet that they have been using for almost four years now.
The District Officer of the Penampang District Council had been contacted and he said the council will bring up this matter in their action committee for reviewing and discussion. The closure is actually made by the JKR, because it is a road outlet which is not approved by them, and this will affect the U-turn further down the road.
The people said this outlet had been used by them for a long time and no accident or with problem. They also said even though it is not an approved road outlet, it still can be made okay by the JKR and district council for the benefit of the people here.
There are similar road outlets and inlet created and approved by JKR in Lido and other areas, why can’t they give this outlet an approval. This is unreasonable, and the people here want the road outlet to be reopen soon.
JKR should come and construct a proper inlet and outlet road junction for the Grand Millennium Plaza to the Penampang By-Pass.
