PROPOSED….The location of the proposed overhead foot bridge in Putatan.
By : DAP MEDIA
MANY PEOPLE in the Putatan town had approached the KK MP Hiew King Cheu to request him to bring up to the authorities which include the JKR and the Putatan District council to build a pedestrian foot bridge to cross over the busy Putatan main road.
The people here claimed that it is very difficult for them to cross the busy main road especially during the peak traffic hours. Many accidents had occurred here involving pedestrians crossing on the road.
The pedestrian overhead foot bridge can be easily constructed using some simple steel structure as the one erected over the railway. This can be an extension of the railway overhead foot bridge to connect to cross the main road, so that pedestrians can walk up and get to bothe sides of the main road and the railway.
KK MP Hiew also spoke to the traffic police on duty at the main road here in Putatan, and they said it is better to have an overhead foot bridge to let the people to get across the main road without facing the danger of being knock down by speeding cars. The police also said this is double lane highway, and therefore it is harder even to run across especially in the case of the children and the women.
Hiew urges the government to immediately plan to construct an overhead foot bridge to help the pedestrians here in Putatan town. This will not cost a lot but it will save life.
