MANY big lorry and cars had been trapped by a big hole in the middle of the road which is caused by the fallen steel grating in the Sri Kemajuan Light Industrial Estate in Inanam near Gardenia Bakery.

The Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu and Edward Ewol Mujie went to check on the complaint with the DBKK supervisor in charge of drainage, and found out that the complaint is true and the people there had provided some photos to prove that indeed many lorry and cars had got stuck in the big hole.

The people in the shops often have to come out to help to carry the trapped cars out from the big hole. Usually the cars sustained damages on the car body and their steering system.

MP Hiew told the DBKK to immediate come to reinstate and repair the drain steel grating cover or even better still to lay a concrete culvert to replace the open drain which has only some light and not heavy duty steel grating covering over the drain. He said since this is an industrial estate and there are plenty of heavy trucks going in and out, it is better to close up the open drain and replaced by the underground concrete culvert. The road surface can then be sealed.

After the inspection done around the industrial estate, they noticed that there are some drains and pavements to be upgraded too. The people here said they want the place to look presentable, clean and free of flood.

MP Hiew also noticed that the entrance road in front of the Gardenia Bakery is also needed to be patched up due to the road surface are having many big pot holes now.
