MANHOLE ON THE ROAD REMOVED

REMOVED….The dangerous chamber cover already removed.

AFTER the complaint made by Sabah DAP Tanjong Aru Branch Chairman, Dr. Felix Chong Kat Fah on the dangerous chamber covers sticking out on the road in front of the Putatan Tamu ground here, this was attended to today.

It was also confirmed by the Director of JKR John Anthony that they will get this removed and make the road leveled to avoid any accident happening. The chambers belong to the Jabatan Air where one of that is a fire hydrant valve chamber and the other is a sluice valve chamber.

Edward Ewol Mujie and the KK MP Hiew King Cheu went to check on the progress of making good the dangerous chamber covers and found the work is in progress. One of the chamber was removed and ready to receive a new lower cover which will be flush with the road surface.

After observation on site, Edward said that the road lane where the twm chambers sit is definitely a U-turn lay-by lane and not as the director mentioned as an emergency lane and for temporary parking use.

This is clearly shown by the big arrows marked on the road. This lane is also used for turning into the tamu ground and the Putatan market area. Edward wants the JKR to ensure that there will be no confusion of traffic which might caused accident regarding the purpose of this lane after the two chamber covers are removed. All traffic sign and road marking should be redone and clearly marked to show the use.

There are many dangerous spots which require the attention of the authorities, and Sabah DAP will continue to bring them up gradually.
