GREATER participation in community work and charities in reaching out to those needing help is essential to create a more caring and united society. This was the thoughts of Consumer and Community Development Minister YB Datuk Azizah Hj Mohd Dun during a charity dinner on Sunday, organized by Home of the Beloved Children (RAK). The text of her speech was delivered by the Welfare Department director, Itong Terang.

“A caring society is built on compassion, which is reflective of a civil society, because it strengthens the social fabric by motivating people to reach out to others needing help, “she said.

Commending the orphanage, Datuk Azizah said such social welfare organizations help combat social problems and play a crucial role in improving public welfare and social development.

In order to build a more caring society, she said the community should not hesitate to help those who need help, and should encourages people to be more compassionate and show empathy to the less fortunate.

“Instead of adopting a wait-and-see attitude; everyone should be more proactive in carrying out community outreach programs," Datuk Azizah added.

At the charity dinner, children from the orphanage performed before the guests and committee members who attended the charity dinner. The children's nasyid performance received enthusiastic applause from the dinner guests.
