OLD TELIPOK ROAD BADLY DAMAGED

THE RESIDENTS of the Taman Wangsa low cost houses in Telipok has filed their complaints to the Sabah DAP State Vice Chairman, Edward Ewol Mujie who is also the Chief of the Local government and Housing Bureau on the issue that Jalan Telipok Lama leading to their homes is already badly damaged, and no repair work has been carried out but the authorities concerned.

Edward said when he, Andrew Lee and Robert Rajah the assistants to KK MP Hiew King Cheu visited the area, they found that it is very true Jalan Telipok Lama has been badly damaged especially near the roundabout which is having big holes and full of water.

They noted that all the vehicles that is going in and out trying their best to avoid these big holes which are 1 foot deep.  The residents informed them that there are about 250 units of walk-up apartments at Taman Wangsa and other houses including low cost housing in the area, so this road must have been used by few hundred vehicles every day and many of the residents informed them that some of their vehicles have been damaged as they said that it is very difficult to avoid the big hole especially at night as there is no road lights.

The residents said when it rained heavily, the whole area will be flooded with water.

Edward said that the residents had lodged many complaints to their elected representatives and the authorities but all fell into deaf ears, that is why the road has not been repaired properly except that one or twice the big hole has been patched up by filling up with stone but after a while the big hole reappeared again.

Edward said that the residents also complained that they can’t enter into Jalan Telipok Lama from the Telipok traffic light side at Jalan Tuaran as there is no provision for a side road to turn into Jalan Telipok Lama, so they have to go to the entrance into the Telipok Town to make a U-turn to reach Jalan Telipok Lama.

The residents said that they are frustrated and unhappy because they found that this is very inconvenient due to the difficulties of making U-turn especially during peak hours early in the morning and afternoon as there will be traffic congestion and jammed as there is a school along this road.

The residents said they brought up this matter to their elected representatives and authorities but they do not understand why this matter has not been taken up seriously by the authorities.

Edward said that they noted there are big lorries transporting earth using Jalan Telipok Lama and this may have contributed to the damaged to this road.

So Edward urges the authorities concerned to repair the badly damaged road as well as upgrade the whole Jalan Telipok Lama right to Telipok town and at the same time make the necessary way to allow the residents to turn into Jalan Telipok Lama from the Telipok traffic light immediately for their convenience to reach their homes.
