Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj. Aman paid tribute to surveyors in his speech at the 30th Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) Sabah Branch Annual Dinner and Installation Night cum Charity Dinner.

His speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology Datuk Dr. Yee Moh Chai who represented him at the dinner function.

Acknowledging the role that surveyors play in the construction industry and the development of Sabah the Chief Minister urged surveyors to uphold the high standard of their profession to develop and move the local property and construction industry to greater heights.

According to Musa, Sabah's property and construction sectors have seen rapid growth over the last few years. He said this has been possible because of the political stability coupled with a vibrant economy, making the property sector one of the most attractive avenues for investment.

Musa's optimism was well justified by the sale of 1,500 commercial and residential properties, totaling RM650 million during the four-day exhibition organized by SHAREDA.

During the four-day property exhibition (PROPEX) in Kota Kinabalu last month, 37 housing developers gathered to sell RM2.6 billion worth of commercial and residential properties, made up of approximately 6,000 properties, with prices ranging from RM150,000 to RM3 million.

According to RISM Incoming Chairman, Surveyor Mariah Othman, the net proceeds from the sale of dinner tables at the RISM Annual Dinner would be fully donated to the Rumah Anak Yatim Al Aman in Beaufort and the Jireh Home in Tuaran.

The dinner collected a total amount of RM49, 800, to be evenly split between the two homes. (Insight Sabah)
