THE COMPLAINTS bureau of the Sabah DAP Kepayan Barat Andrew Lee Chee Keong received a complaint from a concern resident in regards to the non functioning street lights along Jalan Penampang Lama. It has been many years now since this stretch had been lighted up.
The complainant mentioned that Jalan Penampang Lama is a windy road and has many dangerous sharp corners. With no street lights, this stretch of road is kept in the dark and is very dangerous and road users are at risk especially during knight time. Accidents do take place at this areas often.
There are a number of schools, kindergartens and a convent along this Jalan Penampang Lama. It gets rather busy during the pick hours as well. We urge the relevant authorities to take action in getting this stretch of street lights functioning again and maintaining it at all times for the benefit and safety of all road users and residents residing along Jalan Penampang Lama.
At the same time, we found that there were over grown bamboo trees covering some parts of the road. We urge the Penampang Council to assist in this matter.
