WORLD WAR II BOMB FOUND IN LABUAN

A World War II bomb was found at a project site at Tanjung Aru, Labuan on March 23. Labuan Police Chief, Superintendent Saiman Kasran yesterday said a contractor found the bomb around 4pm while carrying out construction work.

“The bomb will be destroyed within these two days while waiting for preparation work to be done. We will dig a hole 20 to 30 feet deep to destroy it. A bomb specialist from Kota Kinabalu will do the job,” he said.

Saiman added the police would continue to monitor the construction site at Tanjung Aru to ensure there are no other bombs. The bomb weighs 454kg. It is five feet long and five feet in diameter. (theborneopost)
