A SABAH tourism industry player, Tham Yau Kong, apologizes to the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) for causing misunderstanding arising from his remark with regard to the statistics on tourist arrivals in Sabah.
A few days ago Tham, an inbound tour operator here, said that the figure was not accurate and could be exaggerated due to inaccurate data collection.
However, after consultation with the STB he now understands that he had misquoted the figures. “Actually, the STB statistics are more accurate than I thought, and the detailed breakdown of tourist arrivals are available in sabahtourim.com,” he admitted. “It is also not my intention to look down on the good efforts of the STB in promoting tourism in Sabah.”
“I look forward to better co-operation with STB and the state authorities to continue promoting Sabah as a prime world destination,” he added.
The data obtained are based on the MASB, Immigration Dept, Sabah/Air Asia records. Then it is prepared By Research Division For Sabah Tourism.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see that Tham Yau Kong had apologized for his misinterpretation of the data.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, there is still room for improvement for the data gathering method from each respective department or corporations that deals with the recording of tourist entry and exit from Sabah.
ReplyDeleteTrue. This will avoid any misunderstanding regarding the tourists statistics for instance.
DeleteHopefully other tourism bodies too will continue to work hand in had with the STB not only in data gathering, but also in its effort to promote Sabah in the eyes of the world
ReplyDeletelain kali fikir dua kali sebelum buat kenyataan.. buat dulu kajian sendiri sebelum menyangkal fakta pihak lain..
