KOTA BELUD KAMPONGS STILL NEGLECTED

A MOBILE service team was conducted by the Sabah DAP leaders in Kg Sarang, a remote kampong in Kota Belud with a thousand residents. The mobile service was headed by the KKMP Hiew King Cheu with Dr. Joseph Lee Han Kyun, Edward Ewol Mujie, Alex Wong, Andrew Lee Chee Kiong, Catherine Chu, Andy Hong, Robert Rajah, Noriah Onong and her Wanita team, and other DAP members.

The mobile service provided to the 87 children and 90 adults mostly women with health advice and checkup, at the same time some new voters were registered. The KKMP Hiew took the opportunity to understand more about the needs of the kampongs here. As noticed, there is still no treated water supply, telephone/cell-phone/internet service, and a clinic here.

One important issue raised was on the price of rubber by the people here who are mostly rubber small holders. They complained on why their rubber is getting such a low price when compared to the Semananjong, which they claimed is exploitation and deprived them to higher earning. Also they are not happy with the government on too little subsidies.

Hiew said the BN is always saying that the Pakatan Rakyat is telling lies to the people, but in fact we are listening to the people most of the time in remote areas in Sabah, to learn about their problems, lacking, wishes, and hopes, and all these will be recorded for future use. The people wouldn't tell lies about a government that didn't work for the wellbeing and interest of the people, especially those in the remote kampongs. They too deserve the best of care from the government elected by them, and if it failed, it is time to find someone who can do the job right and sadly they have been side-lined long time ago. This was transpired during the dialogue with the people who had spoken freely, and expressed their view and determination for change.

Meanwhile, MP Hiew promised he will find time to visit the remote kampongs in the rural districts with the DAP leaders.
