KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti
Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) takes pride in being ranked among the top 170
universities in Asia. Unimas Vice-Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Ab Hamid
said the recent record was the best among all universities in the country. Unimas
made it to top 200 last year.
“People cannot take us for
granted and people cannot simply ignore us anymore. We deserve to feel proud
and to celebrate,” he said at the Unimas excellence awards ceremony at Detar
Putra, Unimas here yesterday.
Khairuddin asserted that
continued commitment and quality work of every academic and staff would better
position the university.
“United we stand, divided we
fall. We have to respect variety and unite in diversity, making this our
strength at Unimas to brace for challenges to come.”
He said the excellence
awards reflected not only good academic performance and staff, but the
university’s capacity to produce quality human resource.
A total of 170 individuals
received excellent service awards from Khairuddin during the ceremony.
He hoped they would be a
role model for other colleagues to be more dedicated and productive in
discharging their duties.
Forty-two staff who had
served the university for 15 years received long service awards.
“All these awards are a
recognition of excellent achievement besides being a symbol of innovation and
quality. It is hoped that such appreciation will further motivate recipients
and other staff to excel in their work.” (theborneopost)

DeleteComing back to Sabah, The former director of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMS-KAL), Prof Dr Shariff Abdul Kadir Omang urged all the campus staff to be committed to raising the image of UMS to international level. The newly appointed UMS deputy vice-chancellor for academic and international said it was time for the academic and non-academic staff to help UMS management known internationally.
DeleteDr Shariff who was here recently said in line with UMS vice-chancellor Prof Dr Harun Abdullah’s vision to make UMS an outstanding tertiary institution in global arena, the staff also had same role and responsibility to realise the vision.
