‘HARIMAU MALAYA’ REJECT 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT?

By: DAP MEDIA

JUST fancy it was proclaimed that the Malaysian Football Championship team for AFT Suzuki Cup victory just concluded recently was to be named as ‘Harimau Malaya’?

What happened to the 1-Malaysia concept that the Federal Government had been aggressively promoted throughout the Nation? This seems to be confusing to many people, particularly the youths of Sabah and Sarawak who have been ‘conditioned’ to accept ‘1-Malaysia’ concept but now, even the Malaysian football team was to be renamed ‘Harimau Malaya’. This does not sound too well for Malaysians in the two States.

Sabah DAP said this was a joke! Who were behind such ridiculous idea to ‘exclude’ the so-called ‘Fixed Deposit’ states of Sabah and Sarawak in the Malaysian Football team?

This clearly shows that the so-called leaders who named the team as ‘Harimau Malaya’ might have forgotten Sabah and Sarawak, let alone to give priority to the future development of these two important States within Malaysia.

The Sabah youths expressed their disappointments and regrets to Sabah DAP.

Their pride, inspiration and dreams of being a Malaysia in Sabah seem to have a different meaning complained the youths of Sabah.

Sabah DAP advised the Government NOT to confuse the people with such irresponsible statements that would confuse the people of Sabah and Sarawak, particularly the youths of the interior whose minds and attitudes are sensitive and venerable to adverse influences said Dr Benjamin Yapp, Sabah DAP parliamentary Liaison Chief for the interior.

  1. no lah... harimau malaya is the nick name that the Malays used to give to pendekar (warriors) or those who are brave, chivalrous and so and so... it is not intended to offend the glorious sabah and sarawak state (i love sabah and sarawak, amazing food and great people but most importantly there's no we or them it is just us)...
my former silat teacher is from sabah, but he got the gelaran (rank) Pelangi Merah Harimau Malaya before he passed away due to cancer in 1999 (Al-Fatihah may god bless his soul).. PMH the 3rd highest honor in our order...
for the MP's, please lah, there's a lot of stuff need to be fixed in our country...
nick name doesnt count as important...
