KOTA KINABALU: The State
Election Commission (EC) has yet to receive any information relating to the
accusation by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) that Barisan Nasional (BN) was
unethically transferring Bumiputera voters from Kudat to the Api-Api
constituency.
According to Sabah EC Director Datuk Md Idrus Ismail (right), he was not in the know as to whether any formal
report had been lodged by anyone on the matter, but he assured that any
complaints on alleged election-fixing would be properly looked into.
“I cannot comment any further
as I am not aware of any report,” said Idrus, who was in Kuala Lumpur on an
official visit when contacted yesterday.
SAPP vice president Datuk
Wong Yit Ming alleged on Tuesday that a state BN leader was abusing his
position by transferring Bumiputera voters from Kudat to Api-Api constituency.
Wong, who is also SAPP
Api-Api Central Liaison Committee (CLC) chairman, said the objective was to
increase the number of Bumiputera voters in Api-Api and to reduce the Chinese
influence. Wong claimed the transfer of voters was done at Likas Square
Complex. (UB)
