NAKED.....Fire
and Rescue Services personnel retrieving the body from the river.
KOTA KINABALU: The body of a
naked woman was found entangled on tree branches at Moyog River in Kampung
Kodundungan along Jalan Terawih here yesterday.
The victim, who was in her
20s, was believed to have died three to four days ago.
Samual Abota, 40, who found
the body, said he was setting up his trawl net to fish around 10am when he
spotted the body, which he initially thought was an animal corpse.
However, he soon was shocked
to find that the corpse was a female body.
Samual immediately rushed
home and informed his neighbours, who subsequently contacted the police.
He said the body had
probably been there three to four days ago as he did not encounter the body nor
smell any odour when he went fishing a week ago.
He added that the body could
have drifted from other places to Kampung Kodundungan.
Meanwhile, Penampang Police
Chief, Deputy Superintendent Ratan Kumar Singh said the case was being
investigated under sudden death.
He said the police were
still awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death.
The body has been sent to
Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.
Families who have missing
