THE development and construction of the KK Megamall shopping cum residential apartment project in Likas Kota Kinabalu with some one thousand over units were left in a stage of stopped work, while buyers of the units in the Megamall project are left in a dilemma whereby they are left and jammed in a situation of not knowing what to do with their financial difficulty and not having a completed mall.
They have in fact waiting for a long time for the mall to be completed, but now there seem to be no sign of the project to restart after a period of many years of work stoppage on site.
The buyers have turned to Sabah DAP for assistance to find ways to at least get to the bottom of the root cause of the stop work, if not to get the project to restart and complete soonest possible. We can not wait any longer and continue to suffer, claimed the buyers.
The Sabah DAP Local Government and Housing Bureau attended to the complaints and its chief Edward Ewol Mujie has met with the buyers to understand their problems further. The case has now been referred to the office of the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Dr. Hiew King Cheu to assist and find ways to resolve the situation.
To this effect, a meeting and dialogue session is then set up by the KK MP office for the purpose of meeting the project owner (MAKSAK), the developer and the buyers on the 16th of October this Saturday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm in the Bundusan Place Restaurant at Jalan Bundusan, KK.
During the session, Dr. Hiew hopes that the meeting shall be able to bring some light to the stop work issue, and at least the buyers should have the right to know as when the project can be completed and hand over. The project owner and the developer owe an explanation to their few hundred customers.
Dr. Hiew urges all buyers of the KK Megamall project to turn up to voice out their concern and worries, and hope the project owner and its developer can come up with a satisfactory plan and commitment to get the project restarted and let the buyers to have the units they paid for.
