KAPAYAN ROAD NEED ATTENTION

By: DAP MEDIA

Sabah DAP Petagas branch chairman Allen Chieng and KK youth vice chairman, Henry Shim received complaints from Kapayan residents, they complain about Jalan Pahlawan and Kapayan Ridge Bunga Patuma problem.

The Kapayan residents who often use Jalan Pahalawan accessible to their residents have no street light. The residents told Chieng and Shim that each time when they in or out of the section of road, they have to be very careful because is too dark, and they worry it might accidentally knocked down someone.

As for at Kapayan Ridge Bunga Patuma, there are street lights pole at the road side, but some of the street lights are without light.

The placement of street lighting is to illuminate the road and surrounding residential areas, and to providing not only the safety on the road, but also to reduce the incidence of crimes, but the street light in Kapayan Ridge Bunga Patuma did not work it function. In addition there also complaint about the drainage where is fill with garbage and block the flow, this will likely help the growth of mosquitoes and bacteria. Government asks the people to keep the household environment clean to prevent mosquito and other disease, but instead they ignored the cleanness of drainage.

Kota Kinabalu has announced as ‘A CITY’ few years back, but very unfortunately, there are many places around the urban areas does not stand up to the specifications of A CITY, Sabah DAP has been receiving many complaints from the public, their complaints are related to streets light, garbage, drainage, grass along the road side and other issues. Shim said, ‘why are people come to us?

It is because they know that even if they complaints to the government or the authorities, their complaints will be ignored, and the BN leaders mostly comfortable sitting in their air-conditioned room. Shim urged the local representative to 'turun padang' personally to inspected, to understand what the people are facing and understand their problems.

They should see what the people need and provide appropriate assistance, especially the State Assemblyman to serve and take care of their constituency and the voters who vote for them. Allen said the state government has announced an increase in State fund, so the Assemblyman should have enough sufficient funds to provide and improve the basic facilities such as installation of street lights. The voters had had enough of the BN government empty promises, and in the next coming general election, the voters will choose a government who really care and serve the people.
