NOW YOU SEE, NOW YOU DON’T!

VISIT….. Hiew visiting the wounded Miss Loi in ICU with her family.

THE ‘No Parking’ signage erected on the road corner in Damai had been removed immediately by DBKK. The sign board had caused serious head injury to a young female Kindergarten teacher Miss Loi Ik Thai.

When she was walking with two other lady teachers at night to get their car parked nearby, a passing-by lorry knocked the pole of the sign while taking a sharp turn, and unfortunately the pole deflected and hit on the victim’s head. She was instantly inflicted with serious head injury and later been rushed to hospital by friends.

The Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu was informed while he was in the Parliament sitting, and he reported the case to DBKK at once. Today on returning from Parliament, he visited the unlucky victim in the SMC.

He learnt that she had just undergone head and brain surgery yesterday, and at the moment she is still in the ICU, and her condition is still not clear. Her whole family is with her now, and they are very concern and worried about her chance of survival.

They told MP Hiew that her condition is very critical, and the only thing that they can do now is just to pray and hope for the best that she can recover.

Hiew called the DBKK on what can they do to assist the unlucky victim, and he was informed that DBKK said that they will provide certain assistance to her in good will. Hiew said he did not know what is the full extend of the medical bills is going to be like, because in SMC he was told that it is not going to be cheap. Her own insurances coverage only has limit of RM50,000 only according to the family. This amount may not be enough judging on her condition.

CUT….. The pole had been cut away, Now you see, now you don’t!

SIMILAR…. Another ‘No Parking’ sign erected on road surface.

Hiew urges the DBKK to look into the matter more deeply, and the City Mayor Datuk Abidin should personally deal with it to lend his helping hand.

Hiew also went on site to check on the accident place and he found that the pole had been cut and removed (see Photo). He noticed that there are many such ‘No Parking’ signage erected on the road surface and on the yellow line all over the Damai shops area and in other places in the Kota Kinabalu City too (see photo).

He urges the DBKK to immediately rectify all such dangerous ‘No Parking’ sign which are sitting on the road surface. Some of the lamp posts are also sitting on the road surface too and we have to be very careful when driving especially at night. Hiew urges the DBKK to immediately rectify all these dangerous poles and spots in Kota KInabalu. There should not be any such mishap appears again in Kota Kinabalu City.
