WOMAN KILLED SONS, HUBBY FOR LOVER

MEMORY.....Neal Williams with sons Ian, (right) and Devon. Manling Tsang Williams (insert) killed her family so she could be with her lover.

A 32-YEAR old woman in Pomona, California, in the US, who smothered her two young sons and killed her husband with a sword has been sentenced to death.

According to prosecutors, Manling Tsang Williams killed her family so she could be with a lover who wanted her to divorce.

Manling was convicted in 2010 of three counts of first-degree murder in the 2007, killings of her 27-year-old husband Neal, and sons Ian, 3, and Devon, 7.

She was also found guilty of the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and lying in wait.

The original jury failed to reach a decision on penalty and the penalty phase of the case was retried.

Last August the new jury returned a death penalty recommendation after five days of deliberation.

Deputy District Attorney Stacy Okun-Wiese told jurors that Williams waited for her family members to go to sleep and then "went in for the kill.''

Before killing her husband, Manling took the time to pause to sign on to MySpace to check her boyfriend's profile page and went out with friends.

She returned home and "chose the heaviest, sharpest sword in the house to attack her sleeping husband."

During the trial, testimony from the medical examiner indicated her husband, "had been slashed and stabbed more than 90 times with a Samurai sword."

Manling put on gloves, took a pillow and held it over her 3-year-old son's mouth and nose until he lost consciousness.

She then climbed the bunk bed stairs to her older son's bed and did the same,'' Okun-Wiese told jurors.
