Tamparuli : Denis Gimpah, an ex- UPKO Supreme Council
Member and Former UPKO Tuaran Division Deputy Chairman lead a group of more
than 250 former UPKO grassroot leaders comprising Branch Chairman and their
respective Committee Members who left UPKO to join APS revealed that more UPKO
branch leaders and members would follow suit.
Among those are from the
UPKO Wanita divisional leaders and also from the Youth Movements. At the same
time, responding to UMNO's challenge to reveal the opposition's shadow cabinet,
Danis Gimpah said as follows:
"Pakatan Rakyat Sabah
(PR Sabah) comprising PKR, PAS, DAP, APS, PPS and SAPP doesn't have to reveal
its shadow cabinet as requested by Kota Belud MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
"Our focus is not who
will be in the cabinet or who will be the Chief Minister etc. etc. Rather, our
objective is to present Pakatan Rakyat as the alternative government to take
over both th Federal Government and the State Government from the Barisan
Nasional.
"Clearly, the people at
large are fed up with the rhetorics of the BN leaders. So many slogans and
mottos being introduced yet they remain just empty slogans and mottos. The real
issues affecting the people have not been clearly and positively addressed.
"Although the RCI to
tackle the problem on illegals immigrants have been announced, however, the
time frame of six months given to this commission to get to the bottom of the
problem in accordance to the wishes of people is totally inadequate.
"There is no clear policy
on how to address the poverty level in Sabah which has put Sabah as being the
poorest State in the country. With all the natural wealth at our disposal
making us one of the wealthiest State in the country, and with good governance,
we should be in a better position to uplift living standards of the poor
especially those in the rural areas.
"Our objective
therefore is not about portraying a good cabinet line up, although that is
equally important, but introducing to the people a better government with a
better policy to replace the current BN policy which has outlived its welcome
and outweigh its relevance.
"The people have had
enough of the restrictive delivery system being practiced and implemented by
the BN Administration. Its now the time for a new system, a new people's
friendly policy, unrestrictive and unbiased and only a change in Government can
we truly realised this objective," Denis concluded.
