KOTA KINABALU: A woman got the shock of her life when a piece of concrete fell on her vehicle’s windscreen, causing it to crack.

Angeline, in her 30s, said she was in her Toyota Rush when it was hit by the falling concrete from a 12-storey building which was under renovation.

“I was inside my car when I saw a piece of concrete fell on the road. Suddenly I saw another piece of concrete hit my vehicle, cracking the windscreen.

“I was so scared that I did not want to come out from my vehicle, fearing that more hard objects may fall from the building,” she said when met yesterday.

Angeline’s vehicle was parked some 10 meters from the building when the incident occurred.

An object also fell on a Toyota Unser that was parked near the building, causing damage to its roof.

The contractor carrying out the renovation project immediately came to meet both vehicle owners after being informed of the incident.

Angeline said the contractor agreed to pay for the repairs of their vehicles.

“The contractor apologised for what had happened and he was very cooperative.

“Although it was not entirely their fault, I hope the contractor will install more safety nets to prevent similar incident from happening,” she said. (theborneopost)
