NAÏVE… Pekan Bingor food stall without electricity supply and basic amenities.
By: DAP MEDIA
SABAH DAP Interior Mobile service unit led by Dr Benjamin Yapp, Sabah DAP Parliamentary Liaison Chief conducted a general survey of Keningau and Tenom area, they found that there were many setback. The basic infrastructure and public utilities such as piped water, and clean water supply as well as adequate electricity were lacking and inadequate in most of the rural areas.
Sabah DAP also would like to question the BN Government as to why ‘Pekan’ Bingkor in Keningau has not been provided with the basic infrastructure facilities despite of the Billions of Ringgit allocation to improve the rural infrastructure and public amenities for the rural communities.
Dr Benjamin revisited Pekan Bingkor to inspect the basic infrastructure conditions there but felt disappointed to notice the same old existing shops were in a bad and unruly stage that appeared like a refugee camp.
He noted that the township was not well established, poor management and not well equipped with the facilities, coupled with problems of clean drinking water and power supply that have affected the local communities there.
“At Pekan Bingkor, the food stall operators operating the food stalls built in an old shelter for more than seven years without electricity supply just opposite the old shops”, said Dr Benjamin Yapp.
It is a disgrace to see how backward is Pekan Bingkor without proper infrastructure facilities as opposed to many small townships such as Petagas and Talipok townships that are much better in infrastructure and public amenities as compared to Pekan Bingkor, Keningau and Kemabong, Tenom.
In Bingkor, there are no fire station, no library and lack of many basic infrastructure and amenities for the local communities there.
Dr. Benjamin Yapp urged the BN Government and the YB of the interior constituency to seriously look into the needs of the local communities and improve the basic infrastructure facilities.
It is useless if only to announce allocation yet nothing ever been done for the interior. The people in the interior not longer will be fool by the BN, and the ‘Wind of Change’ has blowing toward the interior.
Sabah needs wind of change. To do or died.
