FONG YII TING ROAD PASSABLE, BUT DANGER

RECONSTRUCTED…..Edward and Max Teo on the reconstructed road section.

THE COLLAPSED section of the Fong Yii Ting road had been repair after a long time and now is passable to traffic again. The collapse road section had caused much inconvenience to the road users because it is the short cut road from Dai Yeh Villa to Taman Iramanis. The motorists had to take far detour through other roads.

The Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu, Edward Ewol Mujie and his assistant Max Teo had visited the location and found the collapsed section of the road had been reconstructed and the cars can pass through like normal.

The other problem they found out is that the road is still very narrow and dangerous to drive on. There is no lay-by or space for the cars to make way for the opposite cars to pass by. MP Hiew requested the JKR to take note and to widen the road to allow for cars from both directions to pass more easily. The lay-by bay is also important and it is essential when there is big lorry coming head on from the opposite direction.

Hiew recommended that some protective crash-barriers must be installed at dangerous corners and near the edge of the slope. This road is a narrow road and it needs very careful driving. In addition to that the road lines must be redrawn because they are not there. The street lights should be replaced for the whole length of the road to give enough light at night. These can effectively prevent traffic accidents.
