SABAH DAP Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament office received numerous public complaints regarding the parking charges set by the Star City management for the use of the car parks along the road in between the Star City and the SJK Chung Wah.
The parking lots drawn on the road side also affected the road there due to the traffic jam and narrowing of the road. This is especially so during school break off hours.
The KK MP’s Special assistant, Max Teo visited the Star City in KK Asia City and found out the public complaints are valid. He received a parking ticket issued by the Management of Star City of RM3.00 for the use of a road side parking lot for a 2-hour period. Max said he was shocked because he thought this is far too high when compared to the DBKK parking rate.
Max said why the Management of Star City can be allowed to draw parking lots along a jammed-pack main road where hundreds of cars have to use the access road to get in and out.
The parking lots drawn there are causing jam on the traffic flow in the Star City and Asia City. In fact, the DBKK should step in to check on the car parking spaces drawn on the road and on the U-turn. We want to know whether DBKK gave them permission to do so, or whether this is the area under the control of DBKK.
Max sad the parking fee is far too high for a short 2 hours parking, and this must not be allowed. The shoppers and business owners here are being affected. If the shopping complex here is going to have more business and have more people coming to the area, it is advisable to consider lowering the parking fee here.
Boycott them for charging unreasonable rates.
