BYPL PRO-12 ENTERS BORNEO CUP

KENINGAU : The Borneo Youth Premier League (BYPL) announced their official participation in this year’s Men’s Open category of the Borneo Cup by fielding their 2012 Tournament winner, Bingkor’s Belia Borneo Komiti FC.

The announcement was made after the BYPL team thrashed KK Expats FC 6-2 in a friendly held in Kampung Marampong, Keningau, Saturday. The annual friendly between BYPL tournament winners and the expatriate team was forged between Founder Patron of BYPL, Nilakrisna James, and Captain of KK Expats, Gareth Pearson, last year.

“The BYPL winning team will enter Scott Ollerenshaw’s Borneo Cup this year as ‘BYPL PRO-12’ and will select their best players from their club,” said Nilakrisna. “It will be the first time ever that we enter the Men’s Open category of the Borneo Cup and every year we expect to field in new champions as agreed between myself and Scott.

"Our league registered 47 teams over two years and some of our players have already gone through SAFA selection. This was the original aim of setting up a football league in Keningau; we want our boys from the interior to be noticed and reach State level competition to play under SAFA.”

BYPL PRO-12 is expected to play against SAFA in the Borneo Cup at Likas Stadium to be held between 12-14 October and Nilakrisna added that as underdogs in the tournament, their young amateurs are looking forward to the challenge and training rigorously every day to increase their chances of winning.

“We don’t expect to enter the Borneo Cup and play against the likes of SAFA to lose. We understand we’re in for a tough fight and we promise to give everybody a really good game. This is an opportunity for our players to be noticed for their individual skills and talent and achieve their dreams to be football stars.

"I am the Founder of this league and the Manager is Juse Reoyston. We’re both women in a Man’s game and with women as leaders in football, which is very rare, we enter this field with success in mind and our players know it. With friends in the football fraternity, I consider myself fortunate to have taken the league this far within two years,” said Nilakrisna.

Recruitment for next year’s BYPL 2013 Football Tournament has started and plans are underway to determine appropriate venues for teams outside Keningau region who have already contacted the organisers for registration.

Bookings for 2013 can now be made by contacting Juse Reoyston on +601119034149.
