ROAD REPAIR CAUSE MASSIVE TRAFFIC JAM

THE ROAD repair work on Saturday has caused a massive traffic jam along the Coastal Highway all the way from Kapayan along the Tg Aru flyover and in front of the Sutera Harbor Resort.

This kind of work during the day time at 10.00am when there is maximum traffic flow should not be carried out at all. The work had created a massive traffic jam for almost 5 kilometer. The Sabah DAP state Vice Chairman and his assistant Stephen Yarman were also stuck in the jam for almost 20 minutes.

They said the work should be carried out at night hours and not during the day time rush hours. The government can afford to pay the contractor extra money for night works, so that the contractors are willing to do the night work. It can help by providing some proper planning and scheduling of the work to provide better traffic flow during the night to avoid the rush and peak hours.

All the day time work on the road is making it very inconvenient for so many motorists and has caused unnecessary traffic jams. It will cost the motorists more fuel driving at low gears and a waste of time. In many other cities like Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and all over the world, work like this is usually done at night. Why can’t we adopt the same practice in Kota Kinabalu City?

Edward said there are many good roads being resurfaced all over again now in KK, why can’t they go and upgrade the other bad roads in the outskirt of the KK City? The people in Inanam, Menggatal and Telipok are asking for the roads to be resurfaced, and the authorities never come to do the work there.
