DANGER....Edward and Stephen inspecting the deep manhole without cover.
THE Sabah DAP vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie was informed about a deep manhole without cover at the roundabout in the Taipan Commercial centre. He went to inspect with his assistant, Stephen Yarman at the location and found that the complaint is true, and the manhole without its cover is as deep as ten feet deep.
This manhole posts danger to the people in the area especially it is just next to the roundabout and many people walk through here day and night. There is a high potential that someone might fall into the hole.
He has requested the developer who is working next to this round about to assist to replace a cover to close up the manhole and also for the nearby manhole where the cover also came loose. The developer is very happy to help, and they said they will immediately replace the covers with concrete slabs. The metal theft will not steal the concrete slab, they said.
More and more metal manhole covers and mild steel covers or gratings are being stolen every day, and therefore it is high time that the local authorities should come up with a solution to gradually replace them with some other durable and cheaper material. We cannot have these being stolen frequently and the people faced with much difficulties and inconveniences.
The people in Taipan Commercial Centre also said they want the DBKK and JKR to look at the various traffic congestion and flow problems. This place is not fully occupied and we have already heavy jam and very lack of parking, and they said it will be worst when the place is fully occupied.
The inlets and outlets to this place is not even fully completed and well prepared, why the DBKK issued them with the OC? There must be something not right.
Why is this man hole square? I thought man hole are supposed to be round?

DeleteBut then again, if the people went to the relevant authority, this matter might have been solved a long time ago.
DeleteDBKK should give serious attention about this issue raised by the DAP. It would be fatal if someone accidentally fall in.

ReplyDeletejika DAP benar2 perihatin terhadap masalah orang awam, letaklah apa2 benda yang boleh menutup lubang itu untuk sementara waktu sebelum tindakan penyelesaian diambil oleh pihak yang berkenaan..
ReplyDeletedi KK ini sahaja terdapat beribu manhole.. macam mana la pihak DBKK mahu menjaga setiap manhole?.. oleh itu, tidak wajar pihak DBKK dipersalahkan sedangkan ada sesetangah penutup manhole itu dicuri oleh individu yang tidak bertanggungjawab..
ReplyDeleteSetuju. Meletakkan kesalahan ke atas orang lain lebih senang. DAP seolah-olah tidak mengambil kira dari segi aspek lain kenapa masalah ini berlaku.
Deletemungkin selepas ini pihak DBKK perlu menggunakan penutup konkrit bagi mengelakkannya dicuri atau rosak..
