A CHINESE national quarrelled with her husband before slashing him badly and then falling to her death from a fifth-floor apartment in Lintang Paya Terubong in George Town, Penang.
The body of Qie Jian Min, 37, was found in a pool of blood on the ground. Her husband Ang Sea Hin, 44, who had 10 cuts on his left hand and head, was sent to the Penang Hospital. He is in stable condition.
Police investigations revealed that the victim, who was said to have suffered three miscarriages, had quarrelled with Ang before she attacked him and fell to her death during the 1.10am incident yesterday.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said police believe the attack could have been caused by rumours of an extra-marital affair.
The police also recovered a knife on a blood-soaked mattress in a bedroom. Qie and Ang had been married for two years.
ACP Gan said the case had been classified as sudden death and that the Chinese Embassy would be informed about the matter.
Ang admitted that he and his wife had quarrelled before the attack, but refused to divulge more details.
“We knew each other for six years and I have forgiven her. I hope she goes in peace now. I want to move on and leave this unhappy episode behind,” he said.
A security guard at the apartment block said the woman had asked him on Sunday whether he could help lodge a police report that she was beaten by her husband.
“I directed her to the nearest police station,” he said.
Meanwhile, a neighbour said the woman yelled for help around midnight.

“They were known to quarrel often and most of the time, they would solve the matter in minutes,” she added.
Another neighbour claimed that the deceased was depressed after a miscarriage last year.
“The couple started quarrelling often soon after the incident,” she said, adding that they had moved into the apartment about four years ago.
