BUDGET 2013, A DESPERATE ATTEMPT

Dear Editor,

THE 2013 Budget tabled by the Prime Minister/Finance Minister is nothing more than a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional Government to draw back the support of the people at large the majority of who are now supporting the opposition Pakatan Rakyat.

Overall, what the government is trying to do is ‘to give the people fish to eat” which doesn’t actually uplift the standard of living of the poor masses instead of giving them ‘fishing rods to fish’ which would have brought an improvement in the livelihood of the people.

As an elected MP representing not only Tuaran, but the people of Sabah, I am very disappointed with overall budget because the real issue affecting the people of Sabah have not been given priority.

Issues such as illegal immigrants, poverty, corruption, infrastructure which are in need of upliftment have not been given due consideration.

Issues relating to assistance given to the poor which has been terminated have not been explained.

The cash incentives shown in the budget clearly shows that the BN government still think that the rakyat can be fooled by giving them cash on the eve of the general election.

But this time around the UMNO-led BN government is clearly blind in not seeing that the people at large can no longer be hoodwinked by such handouts.

The policy of divide and rule adopted by BN-UMNO are no longer accepted by the people. It is now the right opportune time for the people, Malaysian people as a whole to unite to form the next government.

 Best Regards,

DATUK SERI PANGLIMA WILFRED M. BUMBURING
Tuaran MP
