RETURN SEAT TO PBS, RADIN APOLOGISES

TENOM: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Vice-President, Datuk Radin Malleh has apologised for his statement calling for the return of Tenom parliamentary seat to PBS.

The Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister's Department said the statement on August 18 was not made in malice because he is still naive in politics.

"I have to be realistic. In politics, there must be compatibility between leaders and the people. I would like to quote Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman that we must fight for the people wholeheartedly," said the Melalap Assemblyman at a groundbreaking ceremony at Pekan Baru Melalap, here, Saturday.

Meanwhile, Tenom Member of Parliament Datuk Raime Unggi of Umno said Radin's apology shows the unique relationship between Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.

"This positive development will keep the unity in BN. As leaders, we sometimes say things that have negative impact and must correct the mistakes," he said.

Raime urged all members of BN component parties to concentrate on the coming general election and leave the selection of candidates to the party leadership.

Tenom was a PBS stronghold until 1999 general election when Radin lost to a BN candidate.

BN continued the winning streak via Raime during the 2004 and 2008 general elections.
