RM80 MILLIONS RUMOURS-MONGERING

THE POLICE report lodged by the former Luyang Assemblywoman Melanie Chia Chui Ket on SAPP had allegedly received a sum of “RM80 million” to split the votes and help BN win in the 13th general election, and she was given RM5 million as the only person in the party who had benefited. She claimed that the rumours-mongering was spread widely in Sabah, especially in the urban areas via coffee shoptalks and SMS texts as well as through the social media such as Facebook.

She even pin-pointed that the whispering campaign about Yong being given money by BN was heard in many coffee shops in Foh Sang and was entered, amongst others, by the then DAP candidate for Luyang who was elected as the Luyang State Assemblyman, Hiew King Cheu.

She also provided evidence down-loaded from the mobile phone and from the Facebook appearing this rumor. Information was provided by supporters, according to her. Chia, however, stressed that she upholds the democratic process and therefore respects the wishes of the voters in N16, Luyang.

The Newly elected N16, Luyang DAP State Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu was totally surprised by the move for Melanie Chia to lodge a police report over the alleged RM80 million given to Yong Teck Lee and there was a RM5 million for her. This is news to many people in Sabah, and many people were astonished by the fact that there is something that they didn’t know about, especially on the RM5 million part.

Hiew said he has received many advices and calls from the voters in Luyang that he should seek justice over the matter, and he is consulting with the DAP panel of legal advisors on the next course of action. A defamation action against Melanie Chia will be proper.

Hiew warned that Melanie should be aware of the many slandering comments on him in the SAPP coffee shop ceramahs in Foh Sang, which were heard and recorded by many people, and these are strong evident of high level defamation which can be used against them under the Penal Code section 499 and 500.

The question is why always pick on me, or just solely because the people have elected me as their representative in Luyang. Every one is saying that “be a good loser and accept the people’s decision”! Very coincidently, Melanie Chia also said that she will respect the wishes of the voters in N16, Luyang. For that, I salute her noble move and decision.

We have to move forward and we are all opposition parties. The road ahead of us is rough and tough, we opposition should work side by side for the people’s interest and well being, and not to fight each other. May be come next round the situation will be the same like now, having the opposition killing each other and the BN laughing away.

This is a license that we must all learn, or else the BN will still remain in power in the next round. Vote splitting will be a condemned thing in any election. Many seats were lost due to the splitting of votes, and I must thank the smart voters in DUN Luyang, Api Api, Likas, Inanam, Kepayan, and Parliament Penampang and Kota Kinabalu in concentrating their votes on Pakatan Rakyat candidates to make them win.

  1. Ketua Umum Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dinasihatkan menerima kenyataan walaupun ‘pedih’ bahawa rakyat negara ini terutamanya orang Melayu masih belum bersedia memberi mandat kepada pakatan pembangkang untuk membentuk kerajaan Persekutuan.

  2. Bekas Ketua Wanita PKR negeri, Aminah Abdullah berkata, penolakan berkenaan dapat dilihat berdasarkan keputusan Pilihan Raya Umum Ke-13 (PRU-13) di mana majoriti orang Melayu yang merupakan pengundi terbesar masih yakin kredibiliti yang dimiliki oleh Barisan Nasional (BN) mentadbir negara sekali gus menolak pembangkang.
