UBA AGREED TO 'UBAH'!

Oleh : DATUK DR JEFFREY KITINGAN

AN INAUGURAL meeting to form a United Borneo Alliance (UBA) was held at a hotel here today between STAR, SAPP and USNO Baru. It was a successful meeting as we have agreed in principle on the concept of co-operation and alliance to face the general election.

SAPP, which was represented by one of its Deputy Presidents Amde Sidek, however would have to brief his party president and supreme council first for endorsement to be part of this alliance.

The meeting today was chaired by former Sorob and Kebayau (now Kadamaian) assemblyman, Datuk Ismail Gimbad, a neutral person.

UBA is an alliance or grouping of individually registered or established organisation that wishes to come together as allies or friends in the pursuit of a common cause, objectives or aims through an agreed mechanism or strategies based on agreed terms and conditions.

The common objective of UBA is to defeat the current UMNO/BN regime and, as a group, take over the government, whether State or Federal.

Membership is open to Sabah and Sarawak-based political parties, and autonomous Peninsular-based parties, while leadership is by consensus.

Our strategies are common identity, shared manifesto, sharing of seats, common campaign theme, shared programmes and a defined team structure.

There will be another meeting maybe in two weeks time.

    1. hoped the people of Sabah would not be easily duped by the opposition’s promises. Opposition good at talking and making empty promises but not in following up and acting on those promises.

    1. We are not sure what the UBA is capable of for the time being, we should observe further to see how the UBA can help fight for the people's rights.

  13. Bagaimana dengan sokongan kepada parti ini? Mungkin jika dilihat seperti kurang sambutan dari golongan muda.

  14. Perjuangan UBA ini seperti apa yang BN perjuangkan juga. Maka kenapa perlu ambil parti yang tidak pasti kebolehannya lagi. Bagus lagi memilih BN yang kita tahu kebolehan mereka memerintah Sabah.

  26. Our strategies are common identity, shared manifesto, sharing of seats, common campaign theme, shared programmes and a defined team structure.
