KOTA KINABALU: Beaufort will
host its first-ever mini Job Fair on Saturday, 20 October, as part of a
strategy by the Ministry of Resource Development and IT to bring career
opportunities to the smaller towns in the state.
The Ministry’s Permanent
Secretary, Mr Bruno Vun said more than a dozen companies and government
agencies would be taking part in the day-long Fair at the Dewan Pa’ Musa from
8.00am to 4pm.
Minister of Community
Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Hajah Azizah Mohd Dun is expected to
officiate at the launching.
The Fair brings together
employers, recruiters and training institutions to meet with prospective job
seekers/trainees. It is also a place where resumes can be collected and
business cards can be exchanged.
The Job fair organized by
the Ministry provides a convenient location for school leavers and job seekers
to meet prospective employers and perform first interviews.
“Job fairs are a great way
for you to explore potential employment opportunities and learn more about
companies who are actively hiring,” added Bruno, saying previous fairs at other
locations had helped many locals gain employment.
The Fair provides an
opportunity for companies to conduct recruitment as they can reach out to wider
selection of the potential workforce in a single day
For the first time job
seeker, this is a good place to meet company representatives from various
industries in a short span of time.
Apart from the interview
sessions, officials from the Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Sabah office would be at hand
to guide the job seekers as to how to prepare convincing curriculum vitas that
would impress their future employer.
Students from the Jabatan
Pembangunan Sumber Manusia, another agency under the auspices of the Ministry,
would also be at hand to conduct beauty and hair-dressing sessions to showcase
what they have learnt while training at the centre.
Attendees are encouraged to
bring copies of their resumes complete with education certificates and to be
properly attired.
As an added attraction there
will be a mini concert at the open stage area with popular local artistes,
Janrywine Lusin, E Elmar, Esther and Candy performing. Adin the talented
entertainer would also be around to provide the laughs
Last year, more than 100
companies participated in the Ranau and Kota Kinabalu job fairs, offering an
array of job opportunities from entry level to high-level management positions.
Tambunan hosted a similar mini fair in June this year.
