MEETING.....A
group of about fifty Sipitang’s private car operators met the Sapp’s local
leaders in Sipitang town yesterday.
ACCORDING to Sulaiman Tuah
their spokesperson, the reason why they wanted to air their view to SAPP’s
Deputy President Tuan Hj Amde Sidik is that they are banking on SAPP as local
political party, which to him capable to make change in Sipitang if given
opportunity, voters now look set to vote for opposition who they think capable
to make a change in Sipitang in the coming general election.
“I don’t see the present leadership
of BN-UMNO in Sipitang can go further than what they already did and therefore
its high time to change. They’ve lost their innovativeness and usefulness
except for themselves after holding power for three terms,” Sulaiman said.
According to Hj Amde problem
of using Kancil, as mode of transporting passengers no doubt economical, the
main reason behind, but it isn’t at all convenient and safe this has to be
thought out how we could help them if we form the State Government.
Authority should be more
creative by providing these people space where possible allowing them to earn a
living within the system, besides it provides job opportunities and services to
people.
“Federal department has
bigger say and share but I would think Sabah local government should also look
for ways and means to assist these group of people.
Whilst permit, licences and
procedures are the perquisites, while assistance to accommodate the group say
by subsidising them to enable them to use bigger car should be an option.
As for complaint which I
often heard that many bumiputras were overshadowed by the new Malaysians in
getting licences or permits, partly due to stringent and rigid test for local,
which sounds arbitrary to me”, said Amde.
