WHY ONLY RM16 MILLION FOR SIBUGA ROAD?

WHY….Dr. Hiew showing the headline on newspaper today.

SANDAKAN people especially those in Batu Sapi again are feeling cheese-off and felt dishearten by the announcement made by Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kittingan, the Sabah infrastructure development minister on the RM16 million road up grading work for the 2.7 kilometer Sibuga and Taman Mawar road.

This is definitely a political propaganda by the BN to fish for support and votes from the voters in Batu Sapi. This is also a cheap trick and empty promises again thrown out by the BN that may not happen and fulfilled. Similar announcement also made in other by-elections and the latest was in Sibu, where the people see nothing happening. Will this be another big lie and we still have to wait and see? The people in Batu Sapi literally laugh when they saw the big headline in the local newspaper here about the project for Sibuga.

“Don’t take the people for granted, we are not nuts”, claimed a senior resident in Taman Mawar early this morning when he read the news. He and his 3 friends invited Dr. Hiew King Cheu the Pakatan Rakyat Batu Sapi By-election Director to have breakfast with them, and they grumbled and spelled out their anger and dismay towards how the BN government ill treated them and ignoring, forgotten, and left them in hardship and suffering for so many years. They said the people in Sandakan had suffered enough and enough is enough! Now don’t come and tell lies to us because we won’t buy that anymore. The old folks also tell the BN to get lost.

Dr. Hiew felt very upset about the sudden announcement for the RM16 million road upgrading work in Sibuga and Taman Mawar road, because this seems the BN is trying to pull a fast one to cheat the people in Batu Sapi to vote for the BN candidate. The amount is shocking and it works out to be almost RM6 million per kilometer, and this sort of figure is extraordinary high. We can build a super highway with this amount, but now it is only for 2.7 km road upgrading in Taman Mawar and Sibuga.

Why now suddenly announce the road upgrading and whether Pairin has ever visited Sibuga and Batu Sapi in the past years? Many thousands of the people here truly felt let down by the BN government because it is not only Sibuga needed attention but the whole Sandakan needs fullest care and upgrading, not only infrastructure, but also the economy, social, human resources development, industries, sea port and airport, power and water, schools and education, etc..
