THE SABAH chapter of the State Reform Party (STAR) planned to complete training its polling and counting agents (PACA) by end of April in anticipation of the impending general election, its State Secretary Guandee Kohoi said here today.
Guandee said, today (Sunday) about 200 of its potential PACAs from the three state constituencies under the Keningau parliamentary seat attended a one-day PACA training held at the Tambunan Valley Resort Centre (TVRC).
"This is the fourth series after the PACA trainings we held for Ranau, Kota Marudu and Kudat. We hope by end of next month we would complete our first-phase training for all the areas we intended to contest..," he said adding that the PACA training is crucial for STAR's election preparedness.
He said averagely, there are four agents trained for each of a polling centre that has two channels for voting.
Meanwhile, Guandee said that STAR leaders had so far been accorded a very warm reception by the people wherever they go in explaining their struggle to restore dignity and autonomy in the state, which he claimed had lost its glory under the UMNO-dominated state government.
"We thanked those supporters and local community leaders who bravely came forward to embrace the seven-point Borneo Agenda. Their sacrifice in going around explaining our struggle to their families and friends are commendable and would be appreciated at the right time," he added.
