PEOPLE in this region welcome the Bum Bum Bridge project that will span 1.4 kilometers and worth RM430 million linking Pulau Bum Bum to the mainland because they see it as bringing a new surge to the economic development of the local population.
Persatuan Silaturahim Keluarga President Dahari Bin Panglima Khatib Kundul, Juladi Baladi, said the project which is very highly anticipated all such parties also link the population of the island with the outside community.
He said the announcement of the Works Minister Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor, regarding the recent project is a good news for the people of the island because it is consistent with the slogan 'People First, Performance Now.
He added that with these facilities in the future, the islanders would find it easier to transport agricultural and marine products to be marketed outside and thus generate income among the population.
"Similarly, the tourism industry will undoubtedly be more successful. Semporna is famous for having the world's five most beautiful islands surrounded by more than 50 small islands and unique marine life
"The presence of local and foreign tourists every day, of course, will bring economic returns and employment opportunities for local children with the completion of the new era of convenience," he said.
Juladi hoped the project would be realised as soon as possible as planned for the benefit of the whole people of Semporna, especially Pulau Bum Bum.
