MALAYSIA BANS THREE INDONESIAN BOOKS

THE HOME Ministry (KDN) has imposed a ban on three books published in Indonesia for containing material that is against the teachings and practices of Muslims in Malaysia.

Its Al-Quran Text and Publishing Control Division secretary, Abdul Aziz Mohamed Nor said, the restricted titles were 'Pengantar Ilmu-ilmu Islam', 'Dialog Sunnah-Syi'ah' and 'Tafsir Sufi Al-Fatihah Mukadimah'.

The book 'Pengantar Ilmu-ilmu Islam' was written by Murtadha Muthahhari and published by Pustaka Zahra in Jakarta, while 'Dialog Sunnah Syi'ah' was authored by A.Syarafuddin Al-Musawi and published by Penerbit Mizan PT Mizan Pustaka in Bandung.

'Tafsir Sufi Al-Fatihah Mukadimah' written by Jalaluddin Rakhmat was published by PT Remaja Rosdakarya, also from Bandung.

"Should we let these publications remain it can affect public order," said Abdul Aziz in a statement here. (BERNAMA)
