PRINCE PHILIP PARK OR JURASSIC PARK?

THE SABAH DAP Complaint Bureau of the DAP Kapayan Barat Branch Deputy Chief, Andrew Lee Chee Keong received numerous complaints in regards to the bad and depilated condition of the Tanjong Aru Prince Philip Park.

The complaint was referring to the poorly maintained park, especially on the broken down walkway, and the lights where these had been out of order for a number of years. At certain spots, the area is in the dark, and it is very dangerous and unsafe for night visitors. Andrew said in fact all the lamps are malfunctioning.

Why these lights are not being rectified and repaired? Have the authorities been doing their inspections and job correctly? The last repair done to the lights was in the Tanjong Aru 2nd Beach and it was requested by the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu personally to the Director General of DBKK Datuk Yeo Boon Hai to repair and fix more light for the use on the beach front by the Tai Chi group who used the place for early morning hour exercises.

The Tai Chi group comes there around 5pm and it is totally dark, they have to depend on torch lights to shine the place. With immediate effect two spot lights were installed, and the whole place looked bright.

It is safer and convenient for the Tai Chi group now. Therefore, it is easy to fix more lights to shine the beach at night to give the place some live, security and adding to the beauty at night.

At the same time, the drain there which is just beside the main entrance to the Prince Philip Park is in a very disgusting situation. Stagnant green algae bubbly water was found producing bad smell.

Andrew also found that the drain wall had collapsed for sometime now, and there is no follow up repair by relevant authorities. To his surprise, most of the main drains near the Tanjung Aru Beach are flowing out to the sea discharging foul sewerage water.

The beach is open to the public, how can we let our valued tourists swimming in the contaminated water. This means visitors to the beach is actually exposed to dangerous and possibility harmful waste water. How can this happen?

Andrew Lee urges the authorities to look into this matter with great care for the benefit and safety of the public. We all want a healthy, safe and clean environment to live in.

  2. The authorities really need to rectify these problems as soon as possible since Tg. Aru is a well-known place to be visited by the locals and tourists.

Basic facilities need to be upgraded, ensure the cleanliness is maintained, the drainage flowing system also need to considered rather than let it flowing to the open sea.

  4. orang awam patut membuat aduan terus kepada DBKK, bukannya parti politik.. kalau mahu tunggu ahli2 politik ambil perhatian terhadap masalah seperti ini, jangan merungut jika terpaksa tunggu lama..
