The stretch of road, Jln
Penampang Lama again is in the dark. Sabah DAP Complaints Bureau, Andrew Lee is
just wondering what is going on with the relevant authorities that is
responsible to make sure that these street lights are functioning and is on
every night.
The residents here are fed
up and furious about this matter. The street lights will be on just for a few
weeks after Sabah Dap had highlighted this matter. And it is back to square one
after a certain period of time, Jln Penampang Lama is in darkness again.
The residents are at risk
when night falls. The road is windy all the way and accidents might just occurs
at any time. As mentioned in my earlier statements there's a church, convent,
kindergarten, school and houses along the road.
At times there are night
activities such as night classes and prayer meetings. You may find people walking in and out to
various venues along Jln Penampang Lama.
All we want is 'SAFETY' for all road users. Must there be an accident
before we react. Let’s prevent accidents from happening. Will the relevant
authorities be responsible for any accidents along this stretch of road?
Making sure the lights are
on every night is a simple task. It is a shame that this is happening over and
over again. It shows that someone is not doing their job.
Sabah DAP urges the relevant
authorities (Penampang Council and SESB) to look into this matter and find a
long term solution in ensuring that all street lights are functioning and to be
on every single night without fail.
