SABAH DAP received a boost when the entire PBS-appointed Village Security and Development Committee of Kg. Gandukut in the Kadamaian constituency of Kota Belud decided to join Sabah DAP today 3rd October 2010.
Following their footstep were more than 50 villagers from the villages who have now made up their mind to vote and support Pakatan Rakyat. Their membership forms were handed over to Sabah DAP Organising Secretary, Jeffrey Jumin by village representative Marcus Dalani witnessed by Sabah DAP Chief YB Dr. Hiew King Cheu; Sabah DAP Publicity Secretary Dr. Edwin Bosi and his deputy John Lee; Sabah DAP KK Youth Chief Junz Wong and Sabah DAP Kota Belud Liaison Chief Wellon Muyou.
Kg. Gandukut is about 30 minutes by road from Kota Belud town. There are about 800 people living in this village. The road linking the village to Kota Belud town is in very bad condition which is impossible to smaller vehicles and long time without maintenance by the authorities, while their water supply is only depending on untreated water from gravity main.
Earlier in his speech, Marcus Dalani said the people is happy and feel very lucky to see YB Dr. Hiew King Cheu and other Sabah DAP leaders making a visit to the village upon a request made. He said the villagers are keen to learn about the latest and current political news.
Marcus added that the development in this village is so slow during the past many years, and the people feel that the BN government has forgotten about and neglected them totally. He mentioned and complained about the poor condition of the road and the construction of the proposed dam in Kg Tambatuon which is against the will and interest of the kampong folks.
According to Marcus, he can feel that Sabah DAP and Pakatan Rakyat is very concern about the well being and the welfare of the people especially in the remote villages. He assured Sabah DAP leaders that the people of Kg. Gundungut will vote Pakatan Rakyat this coming 13th general election.
Dr Hiew welcomed the new members and informed them that they have made the right choice. He thanked the people for giving Pakatan Rakyat a chance. YB Dr Hiew also informed the people that the Pakatan Rakyat Secretariat in Sabah has been launched.
Since then Pakatan Rakyat is growing from strength to strength he added. Hiew assured the people that a Pakatan Rakyat government will comprise of leaders of good characters and integrity. He said corruption and abuse of power will not be tolerated.
He informed them that the Pakatan Rakyat governments in Penang, Selangor, Kedah and Kelantan are doing so well. For example, Penang has been reported as the best manage State in Malaysia.
Hiew said, Sabah will do the same or may even perform better when Pakatan Rakyat takes over the Sabah government.
