BOY?....Jenna Talakova is not giving up and will be consulting a lawyer.
SHE had made it to the finals of the Miss Universe Canada competition but Jenna Talackova was pulled from the beauty contest because she was born a male.
The 23-year-old Vancouver contestant looks every bit like a girl but organisers of the event disqualified her after it was discovered that she had undergone sexual reassignment surgery.
National director of Miss Universe Canada Denis Davila told the Toronto Star that while they consider Talackova to be a "real girl," Miss Universe rules stipulate that contestants must be a "naturally born female."
"She feels like a real girl and she is a real girl. She didn't expect people to question it," he said.
"She was hoping we could put her back in the competition but the rules are very clear and there's no way we can go back on it.
"She did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form. We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best."
Talakova said: "All I can say is that they disqualified me because I am not 'natural born,'" Talackova told Vancouver Sun. "(That) doesn't make sense because since I was conscious I always felt this way."
In a 2010 interview, Talakova revealed that she knew she was a female since she was four, and began hormone therapy at age 14.
Talakova considers this incident a "human rights" issue, but would not elaborate until she talks to her lawyer early next week.
Miss Universe Canada has since removed all photos of Talakova from their website and had another female contestant take over her spot. (Agencies)
