INSPECT.... Edward inspecting the road condition.
THE PEOPLE living in the Inanam and Penampang area is very annoyed and angry about the government authorities not bordering to install the highly necessary street lights along the road from Inanam to Kasigui.
The Jalan Bantayan Minitod and Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting has been built more then 15 years now but without any street lights. There are rapid housing developments along the road and it is no longer a small 'kampong road' but a road used by thousand of people day and night.
The people complained to the Sabah DAP Inanam Service Centre and Edward Ewol Mujie and his assistant Stephen Yaman attended to these many complaints concerning the request from the people there.
The people said it is not reasonable for the government to ignore the fact that the people are in danger when driving at night when there is no lighting facility at all. Many accidents have occurred due to poor visibility at night, especially at the blind corners and road bends.
The people also began to wonder why it is so difficult for the government to fix this compulsory street lighting to here. Do they not see the danger and the need of the people here? They said the local BN YBs also frequently drive on this road, and they equally did not see the problems or rather they just don’t care?
The other concerning thing the people complained is about the constant and long morning rush hour traffic jam along this road. It is a kind of suffering having to jam in the long queues of cars and there are considerable losses to the drivers too. The long queues are on the road going down to Bukit Padang, going to Inanam side and towards Kasigui roundabout.
The queues have started due to the increased large number of people who have moved here to live here after the completion of the many housing projects in the area. The situation will be more severe when the other few soon to be completed, few more thousand people will join the queues. The rest of the cars come from Penampang trying to make a short cut to KK and to Inanam, which further contributed to the heavy jam.
Edward Ewol Mujie said the situation if not dealt with immediately it will blow up into more related problems. There is a need to set up a traffic committee by the DBKK, Penampang Council, JKR, Local authorities and especially the Ministry of local government and housing to look into this pressing situation.
He also said the people want to see some action from the people who are drawing salaries from the tax-payers pockets. If they don’t do the people knows what to do!
Edward further said that it is the safety of the people that the government should give top priority and they should be able to find money to carry out the task of putting up the street lights there. If this cannot be done, what else can we expect these people in the government can do? It is timely to act and we do not want to see any mishap happening here.
