MESSY BORNEON CENTRE CAR PARKING

MESS....Parking mess in Borneon Centre, Luyang

THE PEOPLE in the Borneon Business Centre in Luyang, Kota Kinabalu, are complaining about the very disorder and lack of car parking space especially during the peak hours.

It is very difficult to find a parking lot here and usually the car owners simply park their car and even double parked blocking the roads and making the people cannot come out from the parking lot.

The complaints were received by the Sabah DAP Vice Chairman, Edward Ewol Mujie who similarly faced the same problems. He said the car parking in the Borneon Centre has been there so many years and no action has been taken to rectify. The DBKK has not been able to upgrade and to provide more parking lots there.

The parking problem is needed to be solved as soon as possible, and he hopes DBKK and JKR can come in to draw up a new plan to cater for more parking lots here. This area is very pack and lack of rooms, and therefore they have to find ways to create more parking lots.

Edward said it is not only Borneon Business Centre, but many other places in KK is already facing parking problems. The very jammed area like Foh Sang, Damai Complex, and Inanam town are facing car parking problems. This is because of the very fast increase in the number of cars coming out from the show room every day.

In Kota Kinabalu itself, there is over ten thousand cars coming on to the road every year, but is there another one thousand car parking lots being created for them to park? Is the present number of car parking lots enough? The authorities cannot tell the people don’t use their cars and leave their cars at home.

If the government cannot provide the efficient public transport system like the LRT or Mono-rail to move the people in Kota Kinabalu, then they should quickly think of a solution to solve the ever demanding car parking problems. Edward said there should be at least 5 multi-storey car parks to be made and build ready by now in Foh Sang, Damai, Segamat, Sinsuran, and in down town KK.
