STAR NOT SPLITTING THE OPPOSITION

By : MELVIN JAIKUL

I REFER to the news report quoting Robert Linggi of Keningau PKR recently accusing Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan of splitting the opposition in Sabah.

This issue should not arise at all because Dr Jeffrey is leading a local party of a unified Sabah and Sarawak, something that we have all these years long for in Borneo but repeatedly denied the opportunity.

PKR's Robert should know that we need leadership from our own Sabah and Sarawak leaders if we are to empower East Malaysians again.

Under a Malaya-based PKR, Robert is merely allowing himself to be abused for outsiders' interest. Robert must realise now that a Malayan party would never be able to vouch for Sabah autonomous rights, and that is why Sarawakians had refused Malayan party in their state.

As someone who had held the post of PKR deputy head for the Keningau division, i know the mentality of national PKR leaders and how their minds work vis-a-vis Sabah right and aspirations. They are no better than UMNO on this.

Dr Jeffrey, on the other hand, through State Reform Party (STAR) has built a tri-partite alliance called United Borneo Alliance (UBA). Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) is wise enough to come and be part of UBA to unite the people, and Robert should emulate his fellow Sabahans by joining us in STAR or SAPP or even USNO Baru.

He will be welcome in UBA. By the way we respect the fact that Malaysia is a democratic country and we in STAR believed in giving the people a decent choice in the coming general election. Let the people decide.

  1. Its better that PKR focus on the West Malaysia states while Star focus on Borneon states.

  3. Currently, Sabah has too many party. PKR and the other opposition party should just focused in WM.
