THE PEOPLE did not benefited
from the drop of basic food and energy prices in the international market. The crude oil price for delivery in July has
fell US$3.30, or 3.8%, to US$83.23 a barrel on the New York Mercantile
Exchange, the lowest settlement since October 7th. The prices fell 17% in May,
the biggest slide since December 2008.
Natural Gas for July
delivery dropped 9.6%, or 4%, to settle at US$2.326 per million British Thermal
units on the Nymex, which dropped to a 10 year intraday low of US$1.902 on
April 19th, are down 22% this year.

With this severe drop in
crude oil and natural gas prices, what happen to our prices here? Do we see
that the government is going to reduce our prices to follow? The government
promised that our oil and gas prices will float and to follow the international
prices trend, and according to that the government should by now follows the
drop of prices to give us a big cut on prices. When are they going to do that
and rather will they do that?
To date the international
prices had dropped that much but there is no sign of our oil and gas prices
reducing, what went wrong? The fact is that the government is not willing to
assist the general population to help them to cut their personal expenditure.
The prices of oil and gas in the country have gone up and up in spite of the
international prices dropped in prices.
The country bought in
cheaper fuel now but the people still paying high priced fuel, and this only
means that the government does not have to spend more to subsidize. This is
again on the expense of the people. Is this what we called the ‘caring
government’?
The Kota Kinabalu Member of
Parliament Hiew King Cheu calls upon the government to immediate to adjust the
fuel prices to meet a fair prices level and not to continue to make the people
spending more on this essential fuel item. The people have suffered a lot in
the past years by spending extra on their car fuel and cooking gas, and this is
the time to have the prices cut back to a lower level to help them to save a
bit of money for other essentials.
This will not cost the
country a lot of money when compared to the corruption money. What is the use
the Petronas keeps on announcing great profit and yet the people suffered by
paying expensive fuel.
The Ron 97 price recently dropped RM0.10.
ReplyDeleteharap ia akan terus turun.
DeleteKadang2 minyak yang diberi subsidi tidak juga dapat dinikmati oleh semua sebab kegiatan penyeludupan yang berleluasa.
DeleteThose who smuggle the subsidized oil are totally moron.
DeleteHope that the prices of goods will be controlled so to reduce the people's financial burden.
ReplyDeleteSepatutnya negeri pengeluar minyak berhak menikmati harga minyak yang murah.
DeletePasti penurunan akan berlaku lagi. Sedangkan RON97 turun 10sen kita sendiri tidak sangka akan berlaku.
ReplyDeleteAbout 1,200 hardcore poor families from several districts in Sabah have received aid from Petronas under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
DeleteDatuk Anifah hoped that Petronas could contribute an open hall to the school as the allocation from his parliamentary fund is only betweenRM10,000 to RM15,000 which he believed is inadequate to carry out the project.
ReplyDeleteRON 97 sudah turun 10 sen ba.. kalau mahu minyak free, tunggu saja la Anwar jadi PM.. semua dia akan bagi free tu..
ReplyDeleteHe said the government needed to study the matter first before making a decision to reduce the price of RON95 as it was subsidised fuel.
ReplyDeleteThe government can only reduce the RON95 price if the government bears no subsidy at all for this fuel," he said after opening the Franchise International Malaysia Exhibition 2012 (FIM2012) at the Putra World Trade Centre.
ReplyDeleteThe price of RON95 is RM1.90 per litre inclusive of government subsidy of 53 sen.
ReplyDeleteThe government could not simply reduce the price of RON95 petrol although the world price of crude oil has dropped, said Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
ReplyDeleteIsmail Sabri said the government had until now, borne RM6.6 billion in subsidy for RON95.
ReplyDeleteAs for RON97 petrol, he said the government managed to reduce the price following a drop in the world crude oil price because RON97 was not subsidised fuel, but the price determined through controlled floatation whereby the monthly price would change according to the world market price.
ReplyDeleteHe expressed his hope that the public will understand that if the price of RON97 drops; however, he noted that it does not mean the price of RON95 should drop too.
ReplyDeleteThe retail price of RON97 was reduced by 20 sen per litre to RM2.60, effective July 5.
ReplyDeleteOn opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim promising to reduce the price of petrol if the opposition is able to capture Putrajaya in the coming 13th general election, Ismail Sabri said that he (Anwar) can promise anything.
ReplyDeleteIsmail opined that it's easy for Anwar to make promises, even that everything will be free.
